Reader Services

For the blind and handicapped

The Morris County Library is a designated Service Center for the
New Jersey State Library Talking Book & Braille Center.
You can use our Optelec enlarger, Perkins Brailler or a computer/Internet station with Jaws software installed. Our collection includes large type, audio materials, braille and talking books.

Apply to use the State Library services at your local library, at the Morris County Library or simply print out and mail in the State Library's application.
You will need to have your personal physician certify that you are eligible for this service.

State Library services include

Audio materials
We have a large collection of audiobooks. They can be found by using Search in the online library catalog. Limit format to audiobooks. We also have a subscription to the audiobooks in OverDrive
Large print
Drop us a note if you would like our 21 page list of large print titles. We also loan large print issues of the Reader's Digest. Our titles are available to patrons who live in other counties through interlibrary loan. If you have a particular title you want to read, ask us.
Contact the State Library for a catalog of their braille titles.
Books are grouped by age level. Both the Morris County Library and the State Library can also help you find braille reading classes and other instructional material. Just ask!
