ABOUT OUR CLASSES
- All classes are free, hands-on, & welcome everyone. We have 20 computers in our lab.
- Register by phone (973) 285-6939 or e-mail. We need your name & phone number.
- Classes are announced the first of each month.
- We'll call the day before class to confirm you're coming.
- If you're on the waitlist, and don't get a call, take your chances *flying
standby*

- Use our computer lab to unload your camera and edit your pictures and/or burn
your pictures to a CD (bring your own or $1 to purchase one from us).

- Take a tour of some of the best discovery and appreciation tools for the humanities. MCL's book, audio, and databases will be

- E-Bay: buying
- General introduction to E-BAY; focus is on how to register and purchase items.
- E-Bay: selling
- How to get started selling your items on E-Bay. Requires: E-Bay buying
- E-Mail Basics 1
- Hands-on workshop helps you establish a free GMail account. Limited to 10 people.
- E-Mail Basics 2
- For people who have taken E-Mail Basics 1 or already have e-mail accounts. Learn how to send/receive attachments, create
folders, and set up an address book. We recommend you take this class a month after the Basics 1 class. Limited to 14 people.
- Easy, breezy posters: creating flyers and signs with Word
- Learn how to make posters with borders and pictures. Requires basic familiarity with Word.
- Excel 1
- Learn how to create simple spreadsheets with MicroSoft Excel.
- Excel 2
- Spreadsheet formatting and editing techniques; introduction to charts.
- Genealogy lab
- Bring your ancestry puzzles and stumpers, use the library databases or books and consult with one of our librarians.
- Google tips
- Take an in-depth look at the newest features of Google, one of the most popular search
engines on the Web.
- Health on the 'Net
- Focuses on which health sites are reliable, how to find
information on medicines, physicians and medical conditions, and how to find journal articles. Library services will also

- Identify the best job search web sites, search strategies & online job applications

- Intro to the PC, Mouse & Mouse Practice This basic, beginning-level class provides an overview of the parts of the personal computer (PC), an
introduction to the Windows desktop and its components, mouse practice sessions and a brief introduction to the Windows operating system.
- PC Basics 2
- Working with Windows Building on items covered in PC Basics 1, this class covers the essential components of Windows-based
programs including the title bar, menu bar and tool bar, moving and resizing windows, working with multiple windows, closing and opening windows, and more.
- PC Basics 3
- Windows Files and Folders The third class in the PC Basics series covers additional, advanced Windows related topics with a special
focus on creating, opening, closing, renaming, and moving files and folders.
- People, places & things: finding it fast on the Internet
- Online phone books, company contacts, magazine articles, and quick facts. What are you looking for? Bring your examples and we'll look them
- PowerPoint intro
- Introduction to creating simple presentations with PowerPoint. Requires familiarity with PC basics and Word.

- Learn how to type a simple letter in Word. We will cover beginning your document, adjusting fonts
(typefaces, size, bolding), margins, printing, and saving.

- Simple editing, layout and design. Requires basic familiarity with Word.

- Lists (numbered, bullets), clip art, and copy/paste text and pictures from the Internet.
- Word 4
- Review and refresh everything we've learned in Word 1-3 PLUS e-mailing your documents as attachments.
- Word Practice
- Practice your Word skills. We'll give you exercizes & answer your questions!
