Prices4Antiques
This unique database contains records of over 98,000 antiques, collectibles, and fine art pieces that have been sold at auction throughout North America (except the major auction houses). Photographs of most items are available.

American National Biography (searchable
from home)
Database contains full-text biographies of thousands of prominent Americans from colonial times to present day. People may be searched by name or sorted by specific criteria (profession, birthplace, date). References for additional study are provided.

Biography and Genealogy Master Index
BGMI (Part of AncestryPlus database) is a comprehensive index to current and retrospective biographical dictionaries, periodicals (Biography Index) and who's who type books. Name searches will result in a bibliography of references about the designated person. Birth and death years are sometimes supplied to distinguish between people with similar names. Full-text biographies are not available from the database.

Biography Collection Complete (searchable from home)
Ebsco's database offers 177,000+ full-text bilgraphies in the fields of history, science, the arts, business, government, entertainment, etc.

Contemporary Authors (searchable from home)
Gale's database provides biographical and bibliogrpahical information on more that 120,000 U.S. and international authors.

Facts.com (searchable from home)
Profiles 150 contemporary newsmakers, with direct links to original articles for additional information. Excellent choice for students researching Madeline Albright, Yitzak Rabin & other prominent world decision makers.

Marquis Who's Who
This reference database contains biographical data on 700,000+ individuals listed in the complete series of Who's Who directories dating back to 1988. Entries are searchable by name or keyword. Data can be crossed and manipulated to identify people by specific criteria, such as authors born in New Jersey.

Ebsco's database provides comprehensive full-text coverage for regional business publications including 75 business journals.

Standard & Poor's Net Advantage

GENEALOGY

AncestryPlus
U.S. Federal Census images 1790-1930 (including 1890 substitute), state and local census data and full-text court, land, probate, military and immigration records, directories, periodicals, birth, marriage and death records, Social Security Death Index. Comparable databasess for UK and Ireland (i.e. Census, vital records, court and land records), also a selection of international databases. Biographical sources and genealogical finding aids are also part of this database.

Civil War on CD-ROM
Full-text access to official U.S. Army records (not personnel), Fox's Regimental Losses and Dyer's Compendium. Documents can be searched by personal name, regiment, battle or location.

Confederate Military History
Collection of primary source documents of Confederate military history and biography.

Genealogist's tool provides quick access to Census records, books, PERSI, Revolutionary War records, etc.

Index to Griffith's Valuation of Ireland
An index to the only detailed guide to where people lived in Ireland, in the middle of the Nineteenth Century, and what property they owned or leased. The Valuation itself gives important social and economic information about these individuals [1848-1864].

An index of individuals named in published Passenger and Immigration lists, currently about 4,200,000, a fraction of the 35,000,000 people who have come to the U.S. Searchable by name and keyword. Data for each individual includes age, year & place of arrival, naturalization/immigration record and source of record.

Pension Index 1883
Finding tool for the 277,702 people listed on the U.S. Pensioners on the Federal Roll. Complete pension records can be ordered from the National Archives.

PERSI
The largest and most widely used index of articles from genealogy and local history periodical articles in the world. Contains 1.5 million records from 5,500 different periodicals with holdings locations.

Alt-HealthWatch
Alt-HealthWatch, published by SoftLine Information, Inc., provides information of interest to both professionals and consumers across the full spectrum of alternative health issues, treatments and therapies. This full-text database accesses information from periodicals, academic & professional journals, research reports and a variety of consumer health publications. Coverage begins 1978; updated quarterly.

Biomedical Reference Collection:Expanded (seachable from home)
Designed for medical pratitioners, this database provides 200+ full-text journals.

Health Source Plus (seachable from home)
Ebsco's HSP is now split into two databases: Consumer edition (160 journals/17 full-text publications--good way to learn about new treatments and procedures, many items are written in *plain language* or report clinical studies that are referenced on the news) and Nursing/Academic edition (500+ full-text and indexed articles--includes extensive bibliographies and additional resources for further study.) Coverage begins January 1988.

Healthcare: Physicians & Dentists (searchable from home)
Reference USA's database lists heath care professionals by specialty and location. Profiles include brief biographical data (Medical School, year graduated), hospital affiliation, and number of patients.

Medline/PubMed
The National Library of Medicine's database contains citations to articles, reports and conference proceedings. Medline is available free on the Internet.

Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database (staff search only)
Information on 1000+ natural medicines. Reports include alternative names, scientific names, safety, effectiveness, mechanism of action and active ingredients, adverse reactions, interactions, durng influences on nutrient levels and depletion, dosage and administration, references and brand names.

WestLaw
Legal database contains full-text federal and all 50 state court cases, statutes and regulations. Searchable by citation, parties, keyword, etc. Searches may be limited by state/court or run through the entire database. KeyCite feature finds related cases. Includes online access to New Jersey Practice and New Jersey Forms: Business and Legal.

Columbia Granger's World of Poetry (staff search only)
Columbia University Press' World of Poetry database provides anthology citations for 145,000 poems written by 20,000+ poets and the complete text of 11,000 public domain poems. The database is searchable by author, title, first line, subject and keyword.

Gale's database provides biographical and bibliographical information on more that 120,000 U.S. and international authors.

Gale Literary Index
Use this tool to loate authors and titles contained in Gale Group literary criticism sets (Contemporary Literary Criticism, Something About the Author, etc.)

Literary Reference Center/EBSCO(searchable from home)
Comprehensive database provides a broad spectrum of reference information from antiquity to today. Excellent for literary criticism, author biogrpahies, and scholarly analysis. All materials are full-text, including infomation from over 1,000 books, major literary encyclpedias and literary journals. Includes MagillOnLiterature information.

Literary Reference Online/Facts on File(searchable from home)
This database guides readers through a writer's life and major compositions, linking author biographies to critical essays on major works and descriptions of more than 35,000 key characters.

LitFINDER (staff search only)
Formerly Poem Finder Roth Publishing's LitFinder database contains citations and information on thousands of poems, short stories, and essays. Searchable by author, translator, title, and genre. Selected full-text items are available.

MLA International Bibliography
The Modern Language Association's International Bibliography indexes over 3,000 worldwide journals, books, dissertations and conference proceedings in the fields of literature, language and linguistics. MLA is a good source for locating scholarly literary criticism by author, title or genre. Citations only. Coverage: 1963-1997.

NoveList (searchable from home)
The reader's advisory database identifies fiction books by subject. Contains information on 90,000+ fiction titles from children's books to the classics. Also provides book reviews 1,200 theme-oriented booklists, 150 award lists and 1,000 fiction related web sites.

Play Index (staff search only)
Contains references to plays published in collections from 1949-present. Plays range from antiquity to present.

Short Story Index (staff search only)
Indexing for short stories in collections/magazines 1984-present. Selected full-text stories 1994-present. H.W. Wilson.

PA Research II Periodicals (searchable from home)
ProQuests's Research II magazine database indexes 1,000 popular publications. Articles are searchable by keyword and may be limited to specific magazines. Abstracts and selected full-text articles provided. Coverage begins 1971, varies by publication.

Street Atlas USA (staff search only)
DeLorme's map making database is an excellent tool for creating detailed maps of specific areas. Maps can be drawn by telephone area code, zip code, town or neighborhood. Zoom features enables one to adjust the level of map detail, including identifying selected businesses (restaurants, etc.) in a neighborhood. Copyright 2005.


MUSIC

International Index to Music Periodicals
Database provides indexing and abstracts for 430+ international music periodicals, plus full text for 110 journals. Both scholarly and popular periodicals are covered. Excellent source for music educators, performers, students and general public. Coverage varies with publication. Most full-text are from 1995-present.

Jazz Discography
Tom Lord's database includes over 31,000 band leaders, over 160,000 recording sessions, over 900,000 musician entries and over 900,000 tune entries. Version 6.0.

RockBase Plus (staff search only)
Cravenplan's database contains informaiton about 155,000 albums and 183 singles released by 44,000 artists on 11,000 different record labels. Data is searchable by artist, album, track, country of origin, instrument, record company and year of release.

National Newspapers provides full-text articles from 9 major U.S. newspapers: The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe, Atlanta Constitution/Atlanta Journal and USA Today. Full-text time coverage for papers varies.

Need information printed in regional or local newspapers? The Internet Public Library provides links to over 1,500 newspapers published worldwide. Many of these papers offer (limited) online archives.

Information is arranged for easy access: start with the general subject index, key events, issues & people. Specific news stories and people may also be located by keyword search. All information is offered in full-text format. Issues and Controversies section provides opposing viewpoint information for debates. Historic coverage begins 1940, full-text articles begin 1980, updated quarterly.

Oxford English Dictionary (staff search only)
The OED is considered one of the most authoritative reference sources for the definition and history of the words in the English language. This database can be used to locate word and phrase origins, verify spellings and even furnish original patent numbers for selected inventions. Copyright 1995.

Ulrich's Plus
Bowker's Ulrich's serials directory is useful for identifying 230,000 worldwide journals devoted to specific topics, industry directories and conference proceedings. Content descriptions include publisher contacts, frequency, circulation, price and indexing. Titles can be browsed or searched by keyword.
