Call before you visit the library to make sure a notary is available (973-285-6969).
Valid photo ID is required for notary service. Current driver's license or passport is recommended.
We will notarize up to five (5) documents in a single session.
Our library does not supply witnesses. If your document requires witnesses, please bring them with you at the time of notarization. They will also need proper identification.
We do not have the authority to notarize copies of original vital documents such as birth certificates and passports. We can issue a "Copy Certification by Document Custodian" form in which you, the owner of the original document, state that the copy "is a true, correct,
and complete photocopy of the original document" in your possession. We will notarize your statement.
Notaries cannot provide legal advice or counseling regarding your documents.
Library notaries reserve the right to decline service if the document(s) or the identification raises any issue of authenticity.
