Morris County Library notary service:

• Notary service is free of charge.
• Call before you visit the library to make sure a notary is available.
• If your document requires witnesses; please bring them with you. Our library does not supply witnesses.
• Current photo ID is required for notary service. Drivers license or passport is recommended.

How to become a Notary Public
In the State of New Jersey Notaries Public are commissioned by the Department of the Treasury, Division of Revenue. Notaries must be:

• A resident of New Jersey or of an adjoining state who maintains, or is regularly employed in, an office in this State.
• 18 years or older.
• Not convicted of a crime under the laws of any state of the United States for an offense involving dishonesty or a crime of the first or second degree.

The application for Notary appointment may be downloaded from the Web. The length of commission is five years.
